Fort Lauderdale, to those of you new to the area, on vacation (consider purchasing a condo), is also known as the “Venice of America.” If you’ve ever been to Venice, Italy or seen photos, there should be no question as to why this city is known as the Venice of America and it’s not because of the architecture! The Fort Lauderdale Intracoastal Waterway is lined with marinas, restaurants, nightlife and with its strong tradition as a marine community is host to the world’s largest in-water boat show.

The Fort Lauderdale area has over 4000 restaurants, 130 night clubs, 12 shopping malls, 16 museums, 60 golf courses and 100 marinas, home to 45,000 resident yachts. The Venice of America has beautiful streets for interesting walks. Take a stroll down Las Olas Boulevard, browse the boutique shops and relax with a gelato. Enjoy the Venice of America Waterways by land and walk the Riverwalk along the New River. Spend a day on the beach and catch a hockey game later that night. In The Venice of America the possibilities are endless. Yachts line the beautiful inland waterways providing a mesmerizing backdrop to the down town area. Luxury waterfront Homes line the canals with boats and yachts parked aside. Residents to have to travel to there boats, they’re docked in the water with direct ocean access and most in eastern Fort Lauderdale without fixed bridges. It’s truly and impressive view. It is no wonder that Fort Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America!

That’s just Fort Lauderdale! In recent years the water taxi and other transpiration companies have been offering services from Fort Lauderdale to Miami by boat. Small cruise ships do daily runs to the Bahamas. Day excursions or stay there for a few days. The choice is yours. If you’re athletic, take a shot at kite boarding!
